Quack, quack

David Harsanyi, in his piece If It Redistributes Like a Duck,

Now, I’m not suggesting Obama intends to transform this nation into 1950s-era Soviet tyranny or that he will possess the power to do so. I’m suggesting Obama is praising and mainstreaming an economic philosophy that has failed to produce a scintilla of fairness or prosperity anywhere on earth. Ever.

And there it is. If you could bear to think rationally and get past all the warm, fuzzy hope for change that will hopefully change us — buffered of course by the pointedly objective sense of fairness the government has time and again proven to embody —  the thought may have occurred to you that the kind of change Obama is proposing is certainly a departure… a departure from a system that works remarkably well to a system that has yet to ever prove itself. And believe me, it’s had the opportunity.

It’s not that we don’t have room for improvement economically, but why this ignorant push to throw out the baby with the bath water?

Libertarians for Obama

Posted by on October 31, 2008

This is the kind of genius that I wish I could churn out. Hmm… maybe if I got more sleep…

I do admit I am a little worried about Ahmedwhatshisname getting nukes and Putin rolling into Europe, with only Obama’s charisma to stop them.  I had never really thought of let’s all play nicely together as a foreign policy since it doesn’t even work with kids.  But hey, is that really my problem?  He has like a zillion brilliant foreign policy advisers and I’m sure they’ll figure something clever out.  I can no longer afford a trip to Israel anyway and I assume pictures of it will be archived on the internet.

In which I respond to a Socialist’s demands: reproach for the wealthy, the provision of a better life for all

Posted by on October 28, 2008

I enjoy conversations on other blogs, and in one I’ve been following lately, a foreign Socialist interjected with his thoughts. Mine follow.

Not to break up this discussion or anything; but SO WHAT if obama has a preference for marxism? SERIOUSLY? This absurd clinging of the United States to pure capitalism is precisely what has caused its downfall. Hellooo? Economical crisis anyone? Caused, in fact, by pure, uncontrolled, capitalism?

Most european nations and governments apply certain socialist principles to their democratic governments to promote their citizens rights and give them a better life, all the while preventing big companies from taking over and those who are too greedy from having ALL the money (even rich, powerful countries like the UK and Germany). True, it isn’t PURE capitalism, but that’s why it’s good. It seems that at some point you americans decided that letting people fight for their lives and money in an unfair race where some started almost at the end is better than giving everyone the chance to live dignified lives. I thought this was about PEOPLE. about making the world a BETTER place for EVERYONE. But maybe I was wrong.

I just find it astounding how so many of you let the outdated anticommunist propaganda of the past affect you, to the degree that, while the world has moved on and decided to work with the best of both systems, you still doggedly cling on to one that has proven itself insufficient. SERIOUSLY.

socialism and communism aren’t evil, they just trust humans too much. STALIN was evil. BIG difference.

McCain’s only saving grace is… the media?

Posted by on October 28, 2008

I think Obama will probably take the Presidency here in a week, but the disparate polls should bring us pause. How is it that consistently over the past few weeks there have been some polls with Obama up by as much as 12 points and other that put the two candidates firmly within the margin of error of each other? Obivously, there are discrepancies in the way that different polling organizations present the data, but what I want to look at is the undecideds. My hypothesis is simple, short, and may prove to be completely right or way off base here in a week.

With all the media coverage and fawning over Obama that we’ve seen, my guess is that if someone hasn’t made up their mind about Obama yet, they probably won’t now.

They’ve certainly had ample opportunity. Why are they still undecided? Are they holding out for more information on Obama or are they waiting to see if McCain loses all his marbles? I suspect the latter, and so if McCain proves sane over the next week, I think you’ll see the vast majority of undecided voters break for McCain. The big difference maker will be this: are the polls giving Obama a huge margin right or are the ones showing a dead-heat correct? Only one of the scenarios will have my theory giving McCain the presidency. It’s quite an uphill battle for him.

The best thing we can do for these fine upstanding youths is let them think about what they’ve done for a very long, long time.

Crystal Clear: Bill Burton is Ridiculous

Posted by on October 27, 2008

Megyn Kelly rips him apart. It’s fun to watch.

Get it? It’s the fault of Fox News. Fox News is the problem. What’s that? I’m sorry, I didn’t hear what you were saying about Obama, Megyn. I was too busy bloviating about the one cable news network that doesn’t bow to our every whim. Lah lah lah lah lah. Obama has been crystal clear in repeatedly saying that he never said what he was recorded as saying, and if he did say it then he obviously didn’t mean that at all. LAH LAH LAH LAH LAH.

No substance, Bill. None.

And watch now as Obama and friends continue to ban any news network that dares ask The One tough questions.

Looks like the Obamatrons looooooooove the grassroots… until someone from the grassroots releasing a video using Obama’s own words against him. Manufactured by Fox? Really? That’s the best you can come up with? I can’t wait to see what life’s like under this regime.

Covering for Murtha the Moron

Posted by on October 27, 2008

Everyone, take a look at this NYT piece. Don’t you see? There is a movement. There is healing going on, and you too can take part in it! Cast off your hateful bigotry and be willing to vote for a black man! The soon-to-be-former racists in Western Pennsylvania are doing it! It’s clearly the only thing keeping any reasonable person from voting for Obama, and here the NYT chronicles the transformation from worthless racist to useful citizen for begrudging voters like Nick Piroli. McCain and his cronies are quite racist in their assumption that they’ve got the whole of the super-white region locked up. But that’s just because they’re racists. And then there’s the rabble rouser holdovers from a bygone era of racism like Olga Permon who just can’t bring herself to vote for a colored. And she’s representative of all old people, you see. “He scares me,” she says. She is scared because he is black. Anyone who is scared by Obama is scared because he’s black. Got it? “If Obama were white, this would be a landslide around here.” Well that’s it then, lock it up. All we needed was a personal testimony from a folksy union plumber — hear that Joe? this guy knows who’s looking out for him — to tell us just how racist that area is.

So to recap: Murtha was right, the whole area is racist, but those that are in the midst of a cure are voting for Obama. Everybody clear on this? Good.

Really?

Posted by on October 27, 2008

Really? Digg can’t find more than one story on Redistribution of Wealth? (And an unrelated story, to boot.) Am I misunderestimating its search algorithm or something? I figured it’d be blowing up right about now!
