[O]ur bailout of Detroit will be remembered as the equivalent of pouring billions of dollars of taxpayer money into the mail-order-catalogue business on the eve of the birth of eBay. It will be remembered as pouring billions of dollars into the CD music business on the eve of the birth of the iPod and iTunes.
If we miss the chance to win the race for Car 2.0 because we keep mindlessly bailing out Car 1.0, there will be no one to blame more than Detroit’s new shareholders: we the taxpayers.
Well, I’m sitting here watching the Senate vote on the bailout bill, and Senators Alexander and Corker just lost my vote in November. That’s right. I’m voting Democrat for the Tennessee Senate race in November.
I encourage all taxpayers represented by “Aye” Senators to do the same, and let your Senators know you’re doing it.
UPDATE: To the 15 Republicans and 10 Democrats who voted nay, cheers to you my friends. My hope is that you keep your jobs. To the 34 Republicans and 40 Democrats who sold the nation out to Wall Street’s interests, I hope you enjoy finding a new job soon.
I just want to say that with all that is happening in Congress and with the Presidential race, my head is about to explode, and I can’t even write about it because I’m so freakin’ busy. My apologies. Please don’t assume that my lack of posts means I’m not interested. In the meantime, here’s some stuff I have been looking at.

Note the Republicans begging for the very regulation that Pelosi is pretending only Democrats recommended. Four years ago, when the Democrats all praised the riskless and progressive nature of their affordable housing deal, Republicans signaled the warning. They were branded as being out to lynch Franklin Raines. Now, in typical slimy political fashion, Pelosi is trying desperately to rewrite the past.
She also blames the Republicans for killing the bailout bill. Frankly, I applaud all the congressmen and women who voted against it, including the 95 Democrats. But she can’t give Republicans all the credit. If she’d kept her own in line, the bill would’ve passed.
